Jerusalem
Jerusalem was the main cause of the Crusades. It is the holy city that Christians and Muslims wanted to capture. Christians wanted to capture it because they believed it was the city in which Jesus was crucified. The Muslims had inhabited Jerusalem before and during the Crusades and the Christians did not want another religion living in their holy land.
